If I were to be compelled to relinquish one word from my regular lexicon, it would have to be ‘ahh! I am not liking it.’ Admittedly, it’s not just a solitary word, but rather a vibrant statement in Bengali that I frequently employ to navigate through various mood swings – ‘Dhur! Bhal lage na.’ In an amusing twist of linguistic fate, this phrase encapsulates my diverse emotional spectrum, from delight to disdain, often leaving my friends bewildered by its versatility. Thus, if I had to bid adieu to a word, this whimsically expressive Bengali phrase would be the unwitting sacrifice, leaving me, and perhaps my friends, with an eloquent void to fill 🙂
